Phyto-True™ Technology

In 2001, Albert Y. Leung Ph.D. and his manufacturing company Phyto-Technologies, Inc. received a grant from government organizations in the USA in the amount of 1.4 million dollars to create a technology that can guarantee the composition and reproducibility of herbal products.

The result of scientific research in the laboratories of Albert Y. Leung Ph.D. is the Phyto-True™ technology.

In 2008, this technology was applied for a patent in the USA. Phyto-True™ is a system using multiple techniques and steps that allows obtaining an accurate profile (fingerprint) of all active herbal components in preparations. Furthermore, it enables easy detection of missing active chemical substances as well as particularly undesirable substances (e.g., toxic contaminants or undesirable additives).

Phyto-True™ technology is a complex system for quality and grade control. It is capable of determining whether herbal tonics were made in a non-traditional way, whether they truly contain the advertised herbal composition, and whether all traditional recipes are followed. In other words, whether the product can bear the attribute "made according to the principles of traditional Chinese medicine." Using Phyto-TrueTM technology, it is possible to prove the link of herbs to scientific literature and thus to long-term tradition. This fact allows for the linking of herbal preparations to valid European legislation – Directive EC 2004/24/EC

However, Phyto-True™ technology can not only identify quality but now also scientifically manage it. This was not possible until now, because herbs are not drugs with a single chemical with specific therapeutic indications, and thus established pharmaceutical research and safety protocols could not be applied to them.

The Phyto-True™ method thus practically helps in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of herbal products. Its use allows for the scientific proof of medicinal effects in herbs.

What this means in practice and for the future: Manufacturing plants and laboratories that use the technology can guarantee repeatable composition in their herbal preparations based on traditional Chinese medicine and thus embark on clinical trials that exactly confirm their effects. By linking to European Directive EC 2004/24/EC and through the feasibility of a clinical study, herbal preparations can be registered as traditional herbal medicinal products, bringing them to a level very close to drugs.

Our company Phyto CZ, together with Dr. Leung, received a European patent on July 4, 2018.   Patent for the production of Chinese herb standards with high quality and high efficacy in connection with traditional Chinese medicine. Dr. Albert Y. Leung's research in this area was honored in July 2018 by the European Patent Court with the granting of the aforementioned patent number 2185167 after ten years of effort. We are proud that all opponents from the global professional public identified our production and processing procedure for Chinese herbs called "Phyto True Technology" as unique. The granting of the patent only confirms that the quality of our products has been at a very high level since 2000 and does not change. We simply do it honestly and differently than other manufacturers. Since July 2018, we have had our efforts confirmed by a European Patent.
