Prof. RNDr. Lubomír Opletal, CSc.

Professor Opletal has been collaborating with us since 2009. As a member of our team, he specializes in the effects of Chinese herbs on human health. He is the co-author of the initial protocol for proving the effects of the PhytoChi herbal blend.

Professional Biography

  • 1976 graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Charles University in Prague, majoring in General Pharmacy
  • from 1976–present works at the Department of Pharmaceutical Botany and Ecology, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové
  • 1979 defended his doctorate in natural sciences in pharmaceutical chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Charles University in Hradec Králové (RNDr.)
  • 1985 defended his candidacy of sciences in pharmaceutical chemistry (CSc. level IIb)
  • 1991 defended CSc. level IIa qualification
  • 1995 habilitated as Associate Professor in Pharmaceutical Botany at Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové
  • 2012 habilitated as Professor of Pharmacognosy at Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové

Scientific Activity

Specialization in methods of isolation of plant metabolites, content substances of higher plants and fungi with a focus on use in therapy, food industry, and animal production, on the technology of obtaining active substances and the introduction of promising medicinal plants from non-European (Asian) regions.

Since 1988 secretary of the CADISO-NUTRIMENTA working conference (Cardiovascular Diseases and Stability of the Organism – food additives and their relationship to the prevention of cardiovascular system diseases), organized by the Department of Pharmaceutical Botany and Ecology, Faculty of Pharmacy CU, which includes the use of promising plants and specialized metabolic substances isolated from them in the prevention and treatment of circulatory system diseases.

Since 1997 he has been the head of the Ecology and Production of Medicinal Plants working group at the Department of Pharmaceutical Botany and Ecology, Faculty of Pharmacy CU.

Since 2002 he has been a member of the Scientific Committee for Animal Nutrition at the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic, working at the Research Institute of Animal Production in Prague-Uhříněves, where he works as an expert in the use of plants in controlled production of farm animals and the influence of toxic plants and toxic natural products on the feed and food chain.

Since 2004 he has been the Ordinary of the Information and Education Center for Nutraceuticals (IECN) at the Department of Pharm. Botany and Ecology at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, providing information primarily to the pharmaceutical field in the area of dietary supplements and their interactions with drugs.

Since 2005 he has been the head of the ADINACO Research Group, dealing with the potential influence of natural substances on the development of Alzheimer's disease.

Member of the Czech Pharmaceutical Society at ČLS JEP (sections of Natural Substances and Pharmaceutical Chemistry), Pharmaceutical Society of Japan, Czech Chemical Society (Working Group for Organic, Bioorganic, and Pharmaceutical Chemistry), Pharmacopoeia Commission of the Czech Pharmacopoeia (sections of Pharmacognosy and Nomenclature of Medicines), member of the viva voce commission for state final exams in Pharmacognosy and Toxicology of Natural Substances (PharmDr.), member of the board of field studies in Pharmacognosy and Toxicology of Natural Substances (Ph.D). Member of the editorial board of the journal Research in Pig Breeding (RIAP Prague-Uhříněves).

Area of Cooperation with Phyto CZ, s.r.o.

Professor Opletal has been collaborating with us since 2009. As a member of our team, he specializes in the effects of Chinese herbs on human health. He is the co-author of the initial protocol for proving the effects of the PhytoChi herbal blend on the human organism. Another area of contractual cooperation since 2011 is the research and development of PTRM™ standards, which ensure a link to the traditional quality, safety, and effectiveness of Chinese herbs. Cooperation also focuses on the possibilities of using Phyto-True™ technology in practice.
